It talked about Chinese People’s Volunteers（CPV） defeated the US enemies in an extremely difficult and hopeless situation. CPV fought bravely in freezing temperatures in a key campaign around Changjin Lake， also known as Chosin Reservoir， in the northern part of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in 1950. The battle was a turning point in the war， laying the foundation for the final armistice negotiations. In China， The battle (1950-1953) is formally known as the “War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea.”
《长津湖》制片人、博纳影业集团现任董事长于冬在电影放映前表示，电影剧本经过了5年的打磨，全力拍摄近200天，共计有7000名工作人员和7万多名临时演员参与，终于“精雕细琢成一部足以载入中国电影史册的鸿篇巨制”。
“The film has been “meticulously crafted into a masterpiece that can be included in the annals of Chinese film history， thanks to five years of script development， 200 days of shoots and the involvement of as many as 7，000 crew members and 70，000 extras.” said Yu Dong， producer of the film as well as president of Bona Film Group.
